Default Anyone have whole inspection sheet for 69 GTO Conv.?

I found a corner of what looks like a inspection sheet in a 69 GTO Conv.

It has 4267 printed in larger numbers, then SEQ. TRIM with a typed number, BODY NO. and a typed number, INSP. SEQ. NO. and a typed number and the rest of this form is missing.

I have attached a scan of what I have. The typed body number matches a number on the trim tag. It is also punched above the typed body number.

I would like to see a copy of a whole sheet if someone has one.

Any help with this is appreciated.

I don't have anything for a Baltimore built '69 GTO, but I do have this one from a friend's '63 Grand Prix (built in Southgate California):

There was likely variation from plant to plant and I'm sure there were changes throughout the model years. This one appears to be from the body shop and trim and will give you an idea of the type of information on the ticket.

Specific areas to verify were noted and the various inspectors would either "buy off" buy using their assigned hole punch, or would write the necessary repair in ink on the ticket. After the repair was made, the repairman who did the work would punch (with his assigned punch) to signify the repair was complete.

Hole punches had various symbols (alpha characters, diamonds, clubs, spades, hearts, moons, clovers, etc) so they could be tracked back to the individual users.

These various tickets were then stapled together (body shop, trim, chassis, final) as the car progressed and followed the car through the process, including final repair and out back through the shipping building. Once the car was shipped the bundle of tickets were to be thrown away, which is why it is very rare to find them in a car today.

Can you post a pic of the cowl tag?

Trim Tag:

69- 24267 BAL 564437
257 51 A
1D 113509

The Body Number on the corner peice above is 64437, which matches the number after the BAL plant code on the trim tag except for the 5.

I've got 2 inspection records for a '68 GTO htp that I used to own but they don't have a section that matches the piece that you posted, it was a Pontiac built car. I can try and scan them later if wanted.

please scan and email the 68 insp. sheets to me anyway. Most 68 info. sheets and forms were different as they were using the older style forms.

I am always interested in seeing factory documents.

thanks

Here's the front and back of each sheet, '68 GTO htp from Pontiac plant. I found them folded up in the glovebox of a one owner car that I used to own, and would love to have back.

Very nice; thanks for posting those.

If you guys will humor me I'll share a bit more about these tickets:

The packet of inspection tickets were also used to "flag" what repairs might be required. For example, on the chassis line, the rolled up tickets might be inserted into the coil of brake lines (near the master cylinder) to indicate the chassis needs a brake repair. The rolled up tickets stuck in the LH number one body mount hole might indicate the chassis passed the brake test and had no further repairs required.

Similarly, this was a big deal out in the back lot. Tickets could be placed under the windshield wipers, in the door handles, laying on the dash or smashed in the vent window, all indicating a different repair required or that the vehicle was ready to be shipped (ie, paint repair, light repair, heavy repair, etc).

God forbid the unknowing person should pull the ticket, take a look at it and stick it back in the wrong spot!! You'd have to endure the wrath of the repair men and drivers after the mistake was discovered.

If you look at the 1st pic under the body shop/ deck lid line, flush has been circled. When I got the car I noticed that if standing at rear of the car the upper right corner of the deck lid was higher than the rest. It would leak a little in a heavy rain in that area, so I guess it wasn't fixed after all.

Heh heh - musta decided it was ok and bought off on it....

When I followed my '87 pickup down the line they wrote up two items: "AC charge" (it was fine, but they wanted to make sure I had an extra good one) and "rear back up lamps inop".

On the short repair line they fixed the backup lamps and I had them buy off on the AC charge (cause I didn't want them messing with it).

I then drove my own truck over to the shipping building and told "Lloyd" it was mine and to take good care of it.

I left the plant about 1 am and by 5 pm that afternoon it was sitting in the dealer's parking lot.

I have seen parts of these in 69's from Baltimore over the years. I had a full one from a 69 hardtop, they were called something like "soft trim broadcast" I noticed that only options that affected the vinyl interior are on the list, console, seat code, seat belts etc.

Sorry, never noticed your question back then! I do have it but it's at my ex's house right now, I'll be cleaning out all my stuff in a few months and when I get it I'll post it. What is interesting is that I found it tucked on top of the gauge cluster. Only time I ever found one there.
