Default Reconstructed code on title in PA.?

I came accross a PA. titled 1966 GTO 2 door hard top driver that will need work and TLC, , with a CV code on the title and a special # plate on the fire wall along with the original vin. # plate that says it is a 242 car. The C is for Classic and the V is special vin.# I checked with a tag agency and they say there was no problem with tranfering title. I was told car car could of been stollen at one time or might of been salvage from junk yard?? The question is do you think it hurts the value of the car for resale? What do you guys think? thanks

I would think it adds character to a car? Any PHS with the car? Is it marron/ burgundy color? A 242 is a 242.IMO

A pa R title will have it as "Reconstructed". (My 95 Z-71 is an R-title.) Salvage j-yard title has "Salvage" on it. Pretty much no way to confuse what they are. It sounds like it was registered and titled as a collector or classic vehicle. Shouldn't affect value in any way.

The Title brand for my Monte is "C" which means Classic. If yours says "CV" in the top right corner I assume that means Collectible Vehicle.

Could have been a lost or no title at one time. Reconstructeds don't have the original vin on them

in our state(fla) they leave the VIN attached and add a new state reassigned VIN.

If you want it for yourself, you might be getting a bargain because of its circumstances. If you're buying it to flip and make some money, forget about it.

Call or visit your DMV and ask.
I was researching this for our state and I think you can take this in front of a Judge(Judicial kind) and ask to have it appealed.

A PA CV tag is basically a Pro Street plate. Just like a street rod plate sorta. PA limits Street rods to PRE 1948. And obvously Classic/Antique must retain stock appearance.
i have a CV plate on my TA it makes my hood scoop and some other mods more tolerated by the cops. It also gives me a permenant registration. I have not had to pay ANYTHING to register my car since i got the plate in 1997. also makes me emissions exempt.
It is merely a formality to discontinue the original title when reclassifying the car.
