Default 67 Bonneville, "Myrtle"

Things have been a little slow on the forum, so I thought that I would share a few pictures of Myrtle, as we refer to her. This was my grandmothers car new and purchased locally. She drove it until her death at 89 years (1988) and then my dad took ownership. I ended up with the car about 6 years ago, (after he passed) and then began a 5 year frame on resto. It has only made one show last year at Charleston and will be at Bowling Green this year. It has had a few modifications but is mostly in stock form.

Great looking car, I've always liked the fastback style and the PMD style rims look nice on it. Is she named after your grandmother?

Default 67 Bonneville/ Myrtle

A couple more pics and a bit of history. My dad was a big Pontiac fan and bought a 68 Bonneville wagon that he ordered about the same time my grandmother (named Myrtle) bought the 67. I learned to drive in both cars at the age of 14-15. This make me the third gen owner.

The 67 has always been garaged and has stayed in our home town always within 5 miles of each location. The car was absolutely rust free.

I pressure washed the bottom and it looks like new. I added 4 wheel discs, tweeked the motor a bit, posi unit added, close ratio steering box, 18 inch Vintique(s) billets, all new suspension, interior, paint etc. Added a heavy duty front sway bar and installed a HD rear bar. With the 45 series tires and mods the car handles really well for a big car. The long quarters were a little beat up but other than that the car was never wrecked. Grandmother (we called her Mom) could not see real well towards the end of her driving career and was known to "bump into" things. My grandfather was always bitching about the next new bump and I can still hear Mom say: "Bill, I have no idea what happened!"

Anyway, hope to see a few of you guys in Bowling Green. If you have never been, the track and park are really great and it should be a good event to attend.

Nice car!

When I was a kid back in the mid '70's.... My dad had a 428 4 speed '67 Ventura that color combo.

I really like the white top with the maroon. Very nice ride and really great that you could keep the car in the family that long.

Love the coke bottle lines of the '67. There is something about seeing all that hood out in front of you when you drive, just can't be beat.

Great job,
Harry

I agree Coach and I really like your 67GP CV. Perfect colors in my book and would love to have one in black. I have a 70 GTO CV now trying to sell or trade and will be looking for a GP.

I love the look of the sheet metal in front of me, but it was also a bit of a shock to have that much sun reflecting off that long hood into my eyes while driving west. My last 4 vehicles before this one the hood was barely or not at all visible while driving.

Now that's a fact!

My daughter was suprised at all the chrome everywhere on the interior of these cars. Her little Sebring doesn't have any that I can think of.

They are grand machines of a dominant era of American life, that's for sure.

I keep thinking that it would be nice to put one of the 05-06 hoods on my GTO, with the scoops it would provide something visible in front of the dash.

I do like being able to pull up next to Escalade owners and tell them "I win, mines longer than yours"
