Pontiac Service Craftsman Service News S-424 1974 No. 2
Does anyone have this in their collection.. I am trying to work on the single plunger unit with the vacume over electric sending units on a 74 shaker hood for a buddy and I am wondering how to test them out for resistance etc...

Not sure what you asking?
There is a thermal switch (from head?) that has to have a set temperature before it will let electricity through to the circuit. The vacuum switch is closed when at idle (or having a set vacuum probably). When the throttle is opened, the vacuum drops letting the vacuum switch close. If the water temp is up to temperature, the thermal switch is closed to let power to to the vacuum switch, if at full throttle, low vacuum, which lets the solenoid open. WAAAAAA..........

Thats right.. I was just trying to get the vacume switch to work on the bench and figure out how much vacume it takes to open it... Test it .. I got the plunger to work at 12 volts and its draw is only 5 amps which is good...
