Default 1970 GTO Build Sheet Help

Can anyone decode my Engine, transmission and axle codes from my buildsheet?
Engine: WA8
Transmission: DP4F
Axle: XU

Also, is there a publication you can buy or a site to go to where you can decode a 1970 GTO buildsheet.

Thanks,
Al in Maine

XU is the 3.31 12 bolt Mckinnon (GM Canada) axle with Safe T Track. Car should be a 455 4 speed.

Edit: Boss you're quick...

Original drivetrain. 455, 4-speed, Ram air, hood tach. Needs some TLC. Same owner until 2011.

Wow, what a cool '70, and an impressive option list! Wish I hadn't sold my '70 455/4 spd car all those years ago...

Welcome to the board, Al.

I saw an add on autobuy where the person was selling a similar 1970 GTO 455 4-speed and stated 1 of only 150 produced. I don't believe it is that rare.

I saw that it had a vinyl roof but I will not be replacing that. Going to keep it as is.

I would recommend Eric White's book:

Eric is a member here (gtoric), and his book as used as the "bible" by the GTOAA in their judging.

It includes a sample build sheet from each model year and breaks down all the codes from the cowl tag, RPOs, etc.

Available at his website http://whitehouse-graphics.com, Amazon or at fine bookstores everywhere...

I usually keep it in my office at work, but am thinking about getting a second book to keep at home as well.

K

Eric doesn't have a lot of copies left so it would behoove you to get on the ball and snap one up! Clearly a must-have for any GTO fan!
