Default Obscure '66 hood bumper question

Rubber bumper under the tip of nose of the hood. I have found this part in the MPC, but I have never seen one on a car. My '66 GP looks as though it had one on it at one time, but might have been something somebody made. I can just see marks on the paint where something was. None of the 4 other '66s I have have had this part on them.

My guess is that it either interfere's with the closure of the hood or gets brutally crushed and eliminated over a very short time.

Anyone ever seen this part for sale or available anywhere?

I have this rubber bumper on two of my Bonnies, when I was looking for a GP nose piece to install on one of my Bonnies I found that the factory GP replacement nose pieces do not have the hole for this bumper..

I can take a picture and post?

Please do. Have not checked the wagon again but the other cars have the hole for it. I scoped out down in there to see if it had fallen down in the GP. but nothing there. My Bonnneville 2 door never had it.

My '66 Catalina has no hole, no bumper but if I remember correctly, my '66 GP had one and it was pretty squashed. I saw an NOS one on e-bay not too long ago.

Thanks for that guys. Bigger than what I expected.

I bet a lot of them got stuck to the hood and pulled out of the hole.

65 does not have them. Most of them have crushed down a tad and do not even contact the hood anymore.

Default Hood bumpers

I was told they were installed on the cars when they were built but factory replacement parts did not have them. My '66 Bonneville convertible was built the third week in September of 1965 and it has the bumper.

Leave it to Deadhead to post about a part I've never seen or even heard of. And leave to the Big Car guys here to come up with the info. You guys are a real asset.
Always learn something here.
