Default I got my Firebird home today...

Whew...what a day. It started at 7:00 at U-haul renting a trailer. Boy those guys are not in any hurry and not very customer friendly. But finally at 8:00 I was rolling for the new ride. With all the holiday traffic, my 1 hour 15 minute ride ended up taking 2 hours. But I finally got there and did a final inspection of the car before paying, the previous owner seemed to be really dragging his feet. As I suspected he really didn't want to sell the car but having a 14 month old and a newly pregnant wife will do that to you.

I finally got on the road back to PA and by then I was dying of thirst so I stopped at a local gas station to top off my tank and get a drink. Next thing you know 2 guys stop me to talk about the car and I'm there a frigging half hour. You know how car guys can get when the BS-ing starts.

So now I'm back on the road....only it's hot as balls and I'm reluctant to run the A/C. First off it doesn't blow all that cold and secondly my Suburban has 138,000 miles on it and this is the first time I've towed anything heavier than my little aluminum fishing boat. So with the windows down and the radio cranking I cruised home with my new car.

I got her home and had to wash off all that damn pollen that had gotten on the car in that short amount of time. Wow that stuff's annoying. But now she's clean and sitting in my garage just waiting for the next cruise night!

This is me arriving home after being gone way longer than expected...

Here she is pulling into the driveway for the first time..

Here she is after a nice wash down and towel dry. I'll probably do a little minor detailing in the garage tomorrow after I cut the lawn.

Terrific looking car. It' good to hear that everything went well for you.

Was the PA. plate transferred with the car or did you have it prior?

No the PA antique plate is actually from my 71 Chevelle SS. I just slapped it on the car for now.

As you probably know, in order for me to get antique plates in PA I have to submit a package/application along with pictures and I know from past experience that the Torque Thrusts will not be allowed. I have to first figure out how I'm going to get around the rims. I've thought of finding some junk hubcaps and hanging them over the torque thrusts or seeing if anyone local has a set of nice rims they'd let me slap on for about 5-10 minutes just to take some pics.

Since it's a holiday weekend I have no way to get to the DMV until Tuesday. The car is insured though, I got the VIN and called it into my insurance company on Friday.

I don't blame the guy for dragging his feet. I'd probably still be looking for the keys for you. That things looks great.
I can't believe they'd not give you antique plates because of the rims!

You only need two wheels and tires for pictures.

Funny. I used packing tape to hold on my hubcaps for the pics I sent in for my PA antique plates.

Nice ride!

In PA for antique plates the car has to look 100% factory. Since the Torque Thrusts are obviously not OE, they disqualify the car.

Not to worry, I know plenty of guys who have gotten around it. Ya just hang an old set of hubcaps over the aftermarket wheels, take your pics, submit your package, and no one is any wiser.

Great looking ride. I had no idea PA was so difficult on classic tags. Jersey it's just the age of the vehicle. Of course getting a gun permit.......

I was just curious because those old style plates look so much better than the new issue. I don't know what they were the thinking when they approved the latest issue.

I'm surprised there is someone at the DMV knowledgeable enough to know they are not stock wheels! Down here it is age only and I can run a 1967 license plate as long as I have the current plate and decal in the car.
That is a beautiful car and I envy your green grass!

is that an OHC-6 lurking under the hood?
ditto on taping a set of hubcaps over those wheels
if you were closer Id loan a set of wheels/tires and or hubcaps.

The rear end seems to have the aftermarket spring "syndrome". Is that a sprint?? OHC?
Grats for your purchase!
