Default Welcome Home Marine!

I know this properly belongs in another section but since this is where I tend to hang out the most I figured, heck with it, it's going in the "Street" section.

Just found out that my son is arriving home from Afghanistan nearly two weeks earlier than was originally planned. We figured to finish a nice, leisurely vacation on the west coast of Vancouver Island, go home for a week or two, then head for Camp Pendleton. Instead, we're scrambling to cancel the last few days in BC and get to Pendleton for the homecoming next Wednesday.

The excitement of greeting a returning warrior never wanes. Our oldest son served two combat tours in Iraq so we're getting - kinda sadly when I think about it - pretty accustomed to it. At least we don't have to go to Twentynine Palms this time!

Each time I've sent a son off to war (no Green Zone for infantry Marines) I've wished they'd stayed in college or joined the Air Force. But when I hold them for the first time after they climb off that bus I thank God I couldn't talk them out of following in at least a few of my footsteps.

Semper Fi, and WELCOME HOME MARINE!

We owe a debt of gratitude to your son and others like him who lay it all on the line for what we believe in. My brother's youngest son just finished boot camp at Parris Island and we went up to the graduation. If that ceremony doesn't stir up a sense of pride in our men and women of the military then I don't know what will. Very moving experience for me.

Default Welcome Home

I can feel for you my son Ben is also in Afganistan however he's in the Army ,1st.Infantry 75th Fires Brigade out of Ft. Sill ,Oklahoma. He is in a FOB in the mountians. They are closing it down now.He is hoping to come home towards the end of July. Its stressful worrying about our loved ones serving our country.I have two nephews getting ready to head over there this month one is a Marine & the other is a JAG Lawyer in the Air Force he is supposedly there to help set up their court/legal system. I am sure it will be happy times for your family knowing your son will be home soon.We hope to have the same. God Bless your son & all the men & women that serve our great country.HAPPY FATHERS DAY!
