Default What is this Deletes Application?

Took this of a 64 Catalina convertible in a local wrecking yard. Looks to have been 4 speed at one time. There was also a 64 GP in the yard that was auto floorshift and it did not have a window in the dash as the Catalina did. Is this a Catalina, 2+2 manual tranny only thing or ?

I would imagine Bonneville/Star Chief as well.

Were there any GPs in 1964 with a column shift?

A floor shift Bonneville/GP had no hole cut in the dash or a manual column shift Bonneville also.

I have never seen a manual column on a GP. I think that all GP's were floor shifted.

There is/was a 3 speed manual, column shift GP running around this area. Very nice, dark blue car but strange looking with 3 speed on the column.

I used to own a column shift/bench seat 1965 GP, but I don't know if they were available in previous years.

That's interesting. I have never seen one. I guess that I'll have to look at a sales brochure. But like I have stated many times: back then, NOTHING was written in stone.

I looked at the brochures posted online at http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/stati.../dirindex.html. While the 1965 through 1968 brochures show bench seats were available in GPs, there's no mention of them for 1964 or older GPs.

Great link Stuart. Thanks. The '66 Perf. Broch. says, " The Custom sports steering wheel. It's not real wood but who cares?" Got to love it.

I don't know about 63 or 64 GPs, but in 62 there was a column shift 3 speed. It had bucket seats and a short "glove box only" console. The Parts Manual actually shows a sketch of the console.

To add to that, the 3-speed floor-shift '62 GP I owned was console-delete but the shifter porch was covered in its own layer of carpet to match the floor!

I have never seen a bench seat '62 GP and given the newness and novelty of the model, I dare say that PMD didn't offer bench front seating in '62 or '63 Grand Prixs.

Did it have a console?
