How do your lines look? Are they original, Rusty, bent, kinked? I would inspect the lines completely for leaks. When you bled the brakes, did the pedal get firm and go to the floor when you opened up each wheel cylinder bleeder valve? How is the proportioning valve? How about the rear rubber line and proportioning valve? I just had to replace the master on my 76. The primary valve blew as I was backing into the driveway. All other components of my system has been replaced.

John, try bleeding the brakes with the car running, I had to do that with my formula a few years ago, I also replaced the master first and that didn't work. Took some time, but after a while the crap blew out of the rear lines and got my brake pedal back.

First thing, isolate the problem. Disconnect the rear line at the master cylinder and put in a plug. Pump/bleed the front, see if pedal gets firm. Then block the front line, pump/bleed the rear.

Doing this helped me isolate a problem with the fronts--I bled the crap out of them, but it wasn't enough. Had to bleed some more. That fixed it.

Also helps to gravity bleed to see if your prop valve is stuck.

Only 2 issues with no fluid out the rear bleeders:

1. Plugged/frozen/corroded proportioning valve
2. Rear rubber brake hose collapsed internally block all fluid flow.

I would bet #2 is the problem since it is 24+ years old...they run about
$20-25 at most auto parts stores.

I'm glad you figured it out! Must be a defect from casting.
