.....in 14 months, 1 week and 2 hours. This marks the completion of a complete frame off rotisserie restoration of my 69 GTO (HERE) that will be given to my father as a gift for his 55th birthday (today). It just goes to show that if you have genuine dedication and commitment to a project, that it can be completed in a timely manner.....just as long as you keep on it as much as possible, you can get it done. Considering I have a job that takes me away from the car for 12 hours a day all week and at least once a month working Saturdays, this car was completed entirely by me with very little outside help....the only thing not done by me was the tint, alignment and exhaust......and I am with minimal knowledge as well......ok, well, I did build another car previously, but I did not have a deadline like noted in the above link.
But seriously, this thread is mainly here for motivation to those that need it....I know there are plenty of people out there that have a halfway done project that lost steam for whatever reason. Just remember that they are not making any of these cars anymore and WE are the only ones that will make them live again. So get out there, get your hands dirty, make sparks fly, drink a beer (many), get that thing running, then get out there and enjoy the beautiful weather (USA) that is coming to a sky near you!! DO IT!!! ~Joe

that is an incredible feat in that amount of time, and the car looks great, however, i have to point out that with a 1969 gto, almost every part is available aftermarket..not so with a 1973 gto, which i would love to have one that is restored to factory new, so im betting a restoration on a 73 model would involve a ton more time than a little over one year.

Congrats to you for doing that for your dad, and congrats to your dad for having you as a son. Happy Birthday to your dad. The car is beautiful . I'm sure the smile will not leave his face for some time.

I like how you reversed the color comb.
Is that black, verdoro or pepper green? Looks outstanding. |

His Dad had a 69 GTO - Midnight Green , White Top , Parchment Interior.
i was thinking he bought it new - but if he is only 55 today - then i'm probably wrong about that. Kokamo found the White car at a fair price, and then turned it into a faithful replica of his Dad's old car. Very dedicated journey. Can't barely imagine the results of the presentation today. Probably an incredible emotional day for the whole family. |

Kickin' ass and taking names! Looks great! Did you delete the hide-a-ways to replicate his old car?

I see Baron Von Zep also answered my question, thanks. I'm one year younger than Kokomo's Dad, and envious. |

Thanks everyone! Go HERE to see how the presentation went.
Again, get out there guys....get on that car! If it takes going to the local car cruise/gather to get motivation going, by all means, make a trip. Get er done! The rewards are amazing! ~Joe

Nice work... Lucky dad!
I had the time and ambition to do car after car years ago. Now married with kids they take the priorities in life, house up-keep 2nd and vacations 3rd. Poor old cars are always on the back burner these days.
