Default Rear Spoiler

Tossed a rear spoiler on the Formula. Really had to think about this one because the car didn't come with one from the factory.

Luckily I had a parts car for a template so it went pretty smooth. I'm probably just going to shoot it with base when I get around to it. The car had a cheap paint job years back and all the clear is pealing on the top half. Just want it to look half way original for the moment.

Looks good.

Did you make the holes a little oversized to align the trunk spoiler to the end cap?

What year is the Firebird?
(1973?)

Thank you sir. I used a 27/64 drill bit which is what seemed to fit perfect on the other car. Still need to play around lining it up but I knew I'd be taking it back off to paint. The car is a 73 Formula 350.

Lake Havasu City? Lived in Kingman for years (76-90) and I have stories of Havasu and ones I can't remember. Used to run a 78 TA WS6, W72, 4 spd from Kingman to Havasu to, well, have fun......

You should get your tail back here before we get that drag strip built and housing goes through the roof again....

Garry, looks better with one on it than without one. I had a friend I worked with at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY back in 73. He bought a new 73 Formula that did not have the rear spoiler. It didn't look right without it.

I went down and picked up a quart of Florentine Red today, should look better once it matches the rest of the car.

Man, don't post that pic in the 70-73 Firebird forum.....they'll hunt you down for desecrating an "unspoiled" Firebird.....lol.

I like my Trans Ams with spoilers, and my Firebirds without....

I've got the 15" rallies on mine too. To my surprise there was even one in the trunk. They need to be redone but I like them and they'll be staying on the car.

Trans Ams and Formulas should have spoilers. Plain Firebirds... no. Just my Besides, you can always tell a fib and say the dealer added it.

When my 79 Starlight Black Formula had to be repainted I did away with the silver all around the bottom of the car and didn't put all of the striping or the Firebird fender emblems back on it. Some liked it and some didn't.... I thought it looked better.

They should also come with limited slip rear ends. They must have forgotten that when they built my Formula.

Yep, unfortunately it wasn't a required item.
Most people probably didn't realize that.
(or didn't want to pay extra for it)

The real kicker is the 2 barrel carb (350 car). I wouldn't want to be the one standing in front of god for that blunder.

Do you think god knows I'm stripping down a 75 Trans Am for parts? I'm not sure what's worse....

If the body isn't worth saving Garry, I'm sure He's on your side and would say "Do it."
