What paper for making patch templates?
I've been using actual cardboard but I was kinda looking for heavy paper, not corrugated. Something that will conform a little easier to contours.
What are guys using and where are you getting it?

Depends how large. Poster/construction paper, also filing folders work. Maybe even a shoe box.

I use "chip board". I get it at the art supply stores. It is nice and big and has a good thickness. I was put onto it by one of Ron Covell's videos. Billk

I have used 3M welding protection paper. It is self adhesive but easily removeable. It is used to protect glass and other surfaces from grinding and welding sparks. Stick it down on what you need to trace, trim, pull up, and then stick it to your sheetmetal for cutting. It is also very good for making your own template for ie; emblem locations on replacement panels etc. I have also used it as a replacement for the paper barrier behind door and qtr trim panels.

3M part# 05916
Pricey for a roll, but handy and will last many many projects. It is always on hand in my shop, waste one customers glass with grinding sparks and it pays for itself quick.

I use those cheap plastic trype folders. I bought a bunch at the dollar store once to make some airbrush stencils. So Ive been using them up making patch panels.
