Are you saying they got 28K for it in 2004??? I'd like to have a few of those buyers in my area. Or anywhere. I have never seen a 73 go for that price. They din't even get an offer close to that for the Ascot silver one with the SD455 engine in it.

I was at a GM Powertrain show this summer with my 73 Grand Am and a guy came by the car three times asking what price I would take for it. He said he had money in his pocket, I said "Probably not enough", he said it would make me think though. He then gave me a piece of paper with his name on it and said to call him.

Another cool thing is that Indesign, The fiberglass nose people, may use a photo of my car on a postcard they are making to advertise the wheel well mouldings they are producing.

So yeah, I think are cars are getting more popular very year.

The reason I said that was I haven't been to any shows other then local shows in the last year or so & even in my local shows all I get is it looks good but not for me & then they swoon over the very next camaro they see, or the otheer comment I've gotten was I didn't know they even made a GTO in 73 that looks like this. Not that I'm looking to sell mine it would be nice for someone to ask about it, it is a 1 owner car & it looks great but around here no one seems to care about it. Maybe it's because they have all seen it here so much it's now just a commen car to be seen here & no one cares about it. I guess it's time for me to go to some shows that are farther away from my normal area to see what happens. I guess I need to get out of my area & see what happens. On 1 to 10 I'd put mine in the about the 8's as far as the way it is. I always get alot of good comments about the way the car looks & how nice the engine compartment is as I do keep it looking very nice , plus I have not driven it in any rain or snow , snow Never & rain maybe a couple of times since it was new. Plus the car only has 78K on it.

Like most when we get these cars, wheather we buy them NEW like I did or used we always have more in them then we will ever get out of them. I paid $ 2500.00 plus the trade in of my 69 firebird & over the years I've all together put ,,, well this is engine # 5 as I've up graded each time & 3 rear ends & 3 Trans. I've raced it showed it & had lots of fun the way you should with any GTO & now the engine I have in it cost more for this engine I would think that it cost on all the rest of the engines put together. It's a 462 with E-heads, eagle rods, 4 bolt mains dbl. roller chain & gears, SRP lightweight forged pistons, complete balance to within .03 grams total, custom widdage tray, Crane Blue Print cam ( RAIV ) roller tip rockers 9425 length push rods, Bored .30 over rear oil galley oil plug with .30ths hole for extra dist gear oiling, Performer RPM intake, Tricked out 800 cfm Q-jet, petronix ign., M54F 80lbs oil pump with 60 lbs spring, Heads & crank are all studed instead of bolts, Ram Air IV exhaust manifolds, X-pipe with complete 21/2 pipes with marmont turbo folw mufflers, plasma rings file fit, melling high performacne lifters. I also run an M-22 4spd, with a 3:73 rear gear. It runs mid 11's & does it all on pump gas getting almost 16 miles per gallon. With that alone & not all the other stuff for the repaint & interior work I'll never get anywhere near what I'd have to have to make me be ok with selling it. Plus all the senemential attachment that I have. Like I always say I've had this car longer then both my wives & my 3 girls. So you can prberly see my point on this.

Thats about what it looks like here, it's the day before turkey day & we got hit with a snow storm ,,,lake affect snow that dumped about 8-10 inchs depending on your area. It came in last night all at once. 2 days ago the ground was clear now it's cover to my knees. I can remember going out in this stuff & driving around in my 69 bird when I was still in high school & thinking how neat this was. Now I hate this weather cause I can't take the car out, & won't. Well only 5 long months to go, then out we go again. Maybe>???????

Ok guys, it's almost the end of the season again here in MI. & it's time to take a look at any of you that have bought a new GTO or Grand Am. Plus if you have how much did you have to pay for it, ,,, did you get a good deal or was it on the high side paying what we were talking about last winter about the prices going up or where there at now???
