Default Gene Droogan Passes

Gene Droogan Sr passed away today after a sudden illness. Gene was a popular driver in the Pa,NJ, MD area of the white 68 Catalina named Big Poncho.

I'm sorry to hear this, I've seen the car run a few times.

Gene was the best . I meet him at the GTO meetings . I always enjoyed my time spent with him . He will be missed in the Pontiac world .

Awe. Sorry to hear of his passing. Last I heard (from Gene at MG) he wanted to sell the 68 & be done with racing.

To Marge and all of the Droogan Family, We want to say how sorry we were to hear of Gene's passing. We had many good times together and those memories will forever be in our hearts. God Bless You All, and Rest in Peace Gene. Gone but never forgotten.

Thanks for posting this Bob. I'm shocked as I just saw him last week and in typical Gene fashion he was busting my stones. Now I'm bummed we didn't get a chance to talk.
My favorite time with Gene is when he won Virginia with the Lemans wagon in 2007. Then he went back and did it again in 08. This guy had Pontiac flowing through his veins. RIP sir!

I initially met Gene at my first Pa club meeting back in 1999 and he had a gruff way of speaking. Once I started to get to know him, he really was a kind-hearted man. Everytime he came into the PY show room I had to stop what I was doing and say hello. I'm glad I knew him and he will be sorely missed. I'm sure he'll want to race John Z. in heaven...
