Default 3 or 4 speed

I have a 67 GTO conv ,Can anybody tell me if there is a code to tell what the car came with 3 or 4 speed.

it will tell you on phs if you have or if you get it for your car

The VIN # is stamped on the side of the case to match the car in 67. jd grim 66 gto

The first two bullet point apply to you on this link. If the date is close to the date on the motor than is probably the original trans.

This is a good site to bookmark for engine codes anyway. I cant remember all of them.

Also agree that you need to get the PHS. Well worth the money.

All I know about the car is that it was pulled out of a bone yard in the Dakota;s late 70's early 80's don't know what had to be replaced or found ,the car was originally out of Kansas plant

Does it have any letters after the 2 on the cowl tag?

B= floor shifted 3-speed
L = 4 speed.

Yes there are. Top of the tag is self explanatory the bottom has a W 2LGTR 5Y can not find anything on these letters, but I did order from phs so maybe something will be found out

W= Tinted windsheild
Group 2L= 4spd, G= Console, T= Rear power antenna, R= Rear seat
Group 5Y= Custom seat belts
