Talking New BOP One-Piece Rear Main Seal

New Product:

Viton® One-Piece Rear Main Seal

The new BOP Engineering one-piece rear mail seal is the most advanced rear main seal on the market for the traditional Pontiac V-8. This revolutionary design features a number of state of the art innovations including relocation of the parting line which greatly reducing the risk of leakage. The seal is simply sliced at a premarked location and slipped around the crankshaft. A more pliable construction works more effectively in engines with seal groove geometry issues, and double lip design to provide twice the protection against leakage as well as supporting outstanding vacuum numbers. Recent testing pulled 22 inches of vacuum when silicone from around the valley pan failed. Visit our website for complete installation instructions.

Wade, VERY interesting!

I just read the instructions. Nothing is mentioned about the anti-rotation "holes" - will they still need to be filled with RTV?

That issue does not pertained to 3" main seals - only the 3.25" seals

Anti rotation holes are an issue(minor ) on 3.25 main... issue doesnt exist on 3" main...

If Wade says its improved then it must be pretty damn good, as the old seal was already good...

Thanks Wade

I tested this seal 2 weeks ago on a forged crank with serrogations. As you know the original BOP seal works great on billet cranks without the serrogations. Dynoed with no evac first. No drips. Then hooked up a remote 4 vane vac pump driven by a 220 volt electric motor at max rpm that we use to check for vac leaks with the engine off. Made 22.8" and still climbing when the valley pan seal gave up! The old seal sucks in at 16". My dyno operator said he'd never seen any make of engine hold more than 21". Wasn't even mad about having to pull the intake and valley pan. Just excited about the rear main seal! Think this is what we've been needing for a long time.
