Default What color is this?

http://www.wallpaperup.com/115978/19...e_classic.html

No Sierra Yellow in '71.

And I don't think it's white.

The only logical answer I'd say is Sandalwood, but it looks too yellow for that.

What say you?

I believe it is a Sierra yellow car.(I had one) maybe because it's an early preproduction car. To tell the truth I think it's a 70 gto that's been refitted with the 71 front for the magazine's. Look at the interior! It has 70 comfortweave seats in it.

70 mirror and 70 interior

i vote its a put together car by an owners preference / taste .
Front license plate is a later model personalized plate.
Probably a Sierra Yellow 70 Lemans with a 71 front clip add-on

Well, that's a factory photo so it's not some personalized plate. I think Ram4King is onto something. I for one had no idea the mirrors were different from 1970-71.

I missed something then -
what makes it a factory photo ?

None of the others are.

Isn't it just a modern day picture of someones car next to a lake ?
Maybe trying to impersonate a similar backdrop of other factory photos ?

No GTO call outs on fenders

It's a known factory photo, and its license plate follows the pattern of other Pontiac license plates.

I always wanted that car because of the picture and color. I liked the stance and always thought a canary yellow was available in 71.

But no, and the more you look at it: No decals, hood pins, and the 70 interior....

The remote mirror was the same in 71? I have one that came off my 71 vert when I went with sports instead.

That pic has been used in several books over the years.

Its in the GTO volume 2 Source Book, Consumer Guide Super Performance Pontiac, Consumer guide Car Spotters Encyclopedia 1940-1980(rear view), and probably others.

Looks like sandlewood to me.

Most 71-72 GTO's and Lemans sports had body colored mirrors, but some had regular chrome mirrors. I parted a 72 GTO that had a chrome remote mirror, bench seat, and 3spd manual trans. red/black. 70's had the chrome mirror .

I would say the interior is Saddle, it looks much darker than Sandalwood.

Looks way too yellow to be Sandalwood to me. I like Ram4King's theory!

Not only is it a factory car, the area is on GM property and the blonde is a secretary that was taken along on a luncheon date and asked to appear in pictures for the car. Keith Seymore might even remember who it was who posted that story online. I never saved the link.

Bamboo cream? I've seen references to this colour but I've never seen one.

It is indeed Sandalwood. Overcast lighting near a lake is definitely going to skew the color but if you look at pictures of Chevelles and Novas in that paint code it's obviously Sandalwood.

This car is a paint code 50 Sierra yellow or what Buick called Bamboo Cream
Note, the 70 door (mirror position) close to window pillar 70 only feature.

Like I said from the very beginning. It's a 70 refitted with a 71 nose. I knew that was a factory photo.

So the consensus is Sierra Yellow with a 1971 nose? That sounds plausible considering when it was photographed. Looks like Pontiac was relying too much on Fitz and Van doing their artwork for them. More GM cost cutting at work.

Hardly a cost-cutting measure - all automakers took photos of their lineup, especially to introduce the model year.
