So I am to the point of mocking up fuel line routing in my 66 GTO build. The plan is to run -10 braided line down the passenger side if the floor plan as close to the frame rail a possible. But how should I run the lines going into the engine compartment?
If I run the lines through the frame rail at the fire wall, is it OK to cut a hole in the frame in the engine compartment for them to come out of to go up to the engine? It would have to be a pretty big hole for -10 lines? I know there is a million way to do this, I just want to do it right. If anyone has pictures of their routing, it would be greatly appreciated. Bob

Mine are run on outside of frame rail and regulator is mounted on J bar.
Regulator could be mounted elsewhere. IIR tech prohibits firewall mounting of fuel related items.

They also do not like to see regulators mounted close to the firewall. Mine was mounted on my wheel well and they humm & haw about it everytime, i will be moving it.
You can see it in the bottom left corner. ![]()

Outside of frame rail? So are your lines right behind the front wheels running along the frame?
I was thinking about putting a hole in my frame just behind the front wheel and then run it up to the j-bar and then across to the engine. Just trying to confirm if NHRA Tech would have any issues with this idea. Thanks for the photo, I will not mount my regulator that close to my firewall.

Some rules limit the individual lengths and or the total lengths of flexible lines you can run.
others limit where you can run them like on the outside of the frame where they pass the flywheel you want fuel lines to run below any electrical components not beside them or above them. |

Running lines on outside of frame shields them from flywheel/flex plate. I would slide a metal tube over them before I would put hole in frame..

Thanks Troy
I think tubing is the way to go for me. I have to run the lines on the inside of the frame.

Just curious. Why do most run the lines up the passenger side, opposed to the drivers side?

Carb inlets on that side. Keep the lines from crossing over a hot engine and heating the fuel up. Stays out of the way of clutch linkage on stick cars I'd guess too.

My 1967 has the fuel line run outside the right frame rail and up between the inner and outer fender. The regulator is fastened to the inside of the inner fender lip about half way down the fender. The line goes into the regulator inside the fenderwell so it can't be seen from the engine compartment.
