Spark Plugs for E-Heads
What is the recommended plugs to use now days?
Years ago Autolites were the plug to use, but then they started having serious issues so Champions moved to the top spot. I'm sure things have changed in the last 20 years so which brand plugs are everyone using now? Edelbrock 72cc heads 455 .060 Compression 10.2:1 Roller cam .584 .248 @ .050 Taylor 8mm Spiro Pro Wires Heat range for street driven? Heat range for N2O? (I'll get a separate set for N2O) Since the plug needs good contact with the head for a ground, is there anything to put on the threads to prevent galling or is it not a problem?

Are you sure the compression is 10.2? Dished pistons?
How much nitrous? I'm running NGK's, I'll have to check the number. |

i use the FR4GP plug from NGK
i also find these seem to index pretty well too (i know... there are other variables that play into this as well) i prefer mine to be as hot as possible (a lot of overlap), although my motor runs pretty darn cool so i haven't had issues I tried a few other NGK's all about the same i think i'm running around a 40 gap just put some high temp antisieze on the threads, i don't use much i also tried some champions as well i think 14x was the highest range i could find didn't have an issue with them |

BRC pistons with 23cc dish and .040 Cometic gaskets. I come up with 10.23:1

Dished pistons, cool. I'm at 10.6 with 87cc heads on a 474.
For the street, I normally run a NGK R5671A-8 and a -9 for Nitrous. Worked very well in my pump gas TA. |

Believe it or not, Autolites have come a long way, and I use them A LOT for most brands I build. In this instance, I would go with the 3924 N/A like OMT mentioned, to start.. My Hot Street/Max Effort stuff uses AR 3923/3924 that I modify a bit, and depending on the size of hit, go colder from there. You can go with a 1 step colder plug for up to the 250 hit, as long as a good Nitrous blend Race fuel like VP C16 is used and you are good on timing/tune up. I would also gap them differently, and you can swap them out whenever you go back to N/A. I certainly wouldn't go with a full recessed plug (Even at the same heat range number, they ARE a different plug) as for what you are doing they aren't needed and they wind up fouling easy. As for coating the threads, just a little Anti Seize is all that's needed. |

Thanks for the info guys.
1) NGK or Autolite with a very light coat of anti-seize. 2) Start with a heat range 8 for the street and go from there. 3) Once that's dialed in, go one step colder for nitrous. Does that about cover it?

3924s also but they do make a "racing" 3924 that looks nicers-nickle plated vs black oxide.
