Patience has paid off. My boy has waited seven months since getting his licence, almost daily scouring Craig's list looking for the right car. Today we drove two hours through a nasty thunderstorm and picked her up. It needs a little TLC but that's the fun part. Oh, and did I forget to mention that is a Pontiac?

I was maybe six months older than he is now when I got my Firebird.
He wanted the '65 Cat but I think that I like the idea of disc brakes on every corner and air bags.

Wow, very similar to my situation. I just picked up this 02 with 35Kmi for my son’s first car. We're a car centric family and wanted him to have something to be proud of and care for.
Enjoy it.

Two very lucky and smart young men.
I had to wait until I was 42 years old to get my '02 (new). ![]() ![]() |

Hey, good job, guys!
It's great to see new(er) Pontiacs get into the hands of next generation of enthusiasts! Part of what I like about the PY board is the new blood getting (and hopefully staying) involved in the hobby (way of life). Kudos to CCass and the crew for having the vision to support these new Injuns. |

I got my first 1969 Camaro when I was 14. My dad helped me buy it and when we got home my mom yelled at him and said "Don't you know it is his older brother who just turned 16, not him??????"
He had totally forgotten which kid was which - there were five kids in the family. :-) So he then had to go out and help my brother buy a Camaro - he got a better one anyway, a 1969 SS396. A couple weeks ago me and the boy bought this for him to work on. He is 13 now. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=1#post5220357 |

It looks like quite a few of us are thinking along the same lines. Some nice looking cars posted. As far as insurance prices go, I'm ignoring that and hoping it will go away.

Like Gary, I'm ignoring the insurance issue for now. Actually, my son only has his temp. I'll try to post back when he has his license and I change him to primary driver.

These 4th-gen Firebirds are one of the best performance bargains. Nothing can touch them in handling or acceleration for the money.
They still have the 'old school' muscle car feel all wrapped up in a modern aerodynamic body. |
