Clutch fan or Straight Blade only????
Hi Guys,
Finishing up the restoration on the 67 Firebird 400 /TH400 and thinking for a street car approx 330HP with stock radiator and shrould what would be the best fan assembly to use to keep it COOL. A fan ( 4blade 5blade 15" 17" ?? ) straight to the pully or a clutch fan (what size) and 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 blade .. thanks for any input. |

I'm running an 18", 7 blade flex fan from a '69 Caddy on my '67 GTO which is stock. Pulls a ton of air, is quiet, and runs cool. Running a 19.5" clutch fan with a Hayden clutch on my '65 GTO and it runs cool and works fine. Whatever you run, use a 7 blade fan that is at least 18" in diameter to pull enough air through the core.

Running a 7 Blade fan from a 76TA that had was an Auto and had AC. That with a Hayden HD fan clutch has served me well. Along with a 180 stat. Gerry
