Default What was your favorite car you've owned

I had a long ride with my wife yesterday and we were talking about all of my toys. She asked a simple question: Out of all the cars you've owned over the years, what was your favorite?

I've had a lot to pick from, and my first instinct was to go with the red 73 SD. She replied that I never drove it that much, so how could it be my favorite.

I gave it some thought. If you rule out rarity or the value of the car, the car I enjoyed the most was my 64 Buick Riviera dual quad car. I bought it with about 50K miles in 1975 when I was 18. I drove it about 50K miles over the next five years. It ran great, but was a major gas hog. I was in college at the time and parked it, opting for cheaper transportation. My girlfriend (now wife) dated in that car, and there were many adventures in that gas hog.

It was powerful, and I loved the sound of the dual quads. I changed it over to a single quad intake/carb setup a few years before I stopped driving it, hoping to improve gas mileage.

Unfortunately, I sold it in the late 90s when I ran out of storage for my toys.

So, what car have you enjoyed the most? Do you still have it?

Definitely my 66 GTO convertible. My parents bought it new, and I was brought home from the hospital in it when I was born. I knew I wanted that car when I was in kindergarten. I saved up money from a paper route to buy it from my parents for $1000 on my 16th birthday in 1986, with 118,000 miles on it. I still have it, I still love driving it (it hit 250,000 miles this past summer). One of my children will inherit it when I die.

The '65 GTO convertible I had. Second place would be the '70 442.

I've posted these before, the only pictures I have of it finished. Sold it 30 years ago.

I guess it would be my 69 z28. Nothing like the sound of a 302 at high rpms. That being said, I just bought a 67 Nova SS this week. Time will tell.

Kind of like asking which one was your favorite child.

Thumbs up I have two...

My current '72 Grandville convertible, which I inherited from my dad, and my '67 Firebird 400 4-speed.

My longest-lived car ever was my '99 Bonneville, which I bought new and sent to the scrapyard with 235,000 miles on it.

1970 GTO. It was a nice clean original car with one repaint and the original YS 400/th400/3.23 rear end. It was a great driver and I really loved driving it. It wasn't a rare or high hp model, but it ran great and had decent power. It sadly met its demise on a foggy, rainy night.
As for pure power, I owned a 67 GTO with a 400HO, 4 speed and a 4.33 rear end. It was a bruiser.

1951 ford woodie. I pull all the wood off it and refinish or replace it when I was in wood shop. Rebuild the motor and trans in auto shop and painted the car in metal shop! All in high school, can't do that anymore, no shop classes in school !

First 69 GTO. I bought it in high school. Lots of memories in that car.

Although the 78 GMC pickup I owned after it also had a lot of memories.....

Here you go,I'm going to throw you a curve ball:

My first car.It is the one I most miss. It was a 1970 AMC Rebel Machine. Green with Automatic. I was so happy to get it I missed out on Graduation On June 16th 1979. I paid a mear $800.00 for it. It had 66K mile's on it. Was #'s matching 390ci 340HP with a 354 twin grip Posi. It was ordered by an AMC executive in Habor,Michigan.Man it was fast. The only reason I dont own anymore AMC's ( had 9 different one's) is because the only thing I lost to in street racing was a Pontiac.

My First Pontiac was a 1970 R/A III Formula 4spd. It was Green as well. I bought that in 1980.

GREAT question. I have to say that my current GTO is my favorite. It has great sentimental value to me as it was my Dad's car since '91. A close sesond would be my '66 Sprint 6 Lemans. It was such a fun car to drive. Manual everything, 3 on the floor and was pretty quick.

i remember always staring at the car..and it had a sticker that said "UP with THE MACHINE" with a hippie carrying a sign...never intended on getting the car it just happened..then there was the SCrambler...and a string of javelins and AMXs...to many to even remember

1974 SD-455 Trans Am which I owned in the late 70's Early 80's - wish I kept that bad boy - it was tuned to 450 HP with many HO Racing parts from California - this was according to the former owner who had it set up for street & strip - he mentioned that he smoked some pretty fast cars ie. a done up 1970 LS6 454 Chevelle by a average of 2 or 3 car length's which was his friends car

My first car... 66 GTO HT 4speed. Or the car I owned the longest... 79 Formula Firebird. Nothing special other than the Recaro bucket seats I installed, but other than that it sure was fun.
