Default Northeast Snowstorm

Looks like another epic snowstorm coming for us in the Northeast over the next few days. So much for global warming.

My wife flies out to Boston tomorrow - right into the "eye of the tiger"...

While it will be no big deal for her, for the locals it probably means a day off on Tuesday. My wife can use the free time...

You do know that most big storms like this aren't from the air being too cold?
It's usually from the air being warmer and can hold more moisture (and pick up more moisture).

All it takes then is a cooler front to make it precipitate, whether ice/rain or snow.

With that said, sorry for the weather, ours is cold too.
65º and supposed to get in 40's at night.

Brrrrr.......

Johnta that is true in the southern climes, but here in the frozen north as the temp dips it will not snow until the temps rise to about 20-25*F. Old timers used to say that when temps were -20*F that it was too cold to snow and it had to warm up to snow. At -20F the snow is hard and pelletized and doesn't amount to much. On the other hand at 20-25*F the snow is fluffier and piles up fast. Ed

That is what I was trying to say.
It is not the cold that makes it snow more.
It's the warmer air.

Look at the blizzard warning - temps in the 20's.
That seems warmer than it should be usually there?
(thus why the 'so much for global warming' comment)

At least my area is nice and sunny.

It's a big corner Alvin. LOL

Keith, I remember snow like that back in the late 50s and early 60s in Northern and Central NY. Snow as high as the power wires.

They're trying to make us here in DE believe we'll be getting that same storm. But we'll only get the southern edge of it. 90% of it will hit you guys from Philly north on up in to New England. If we get any at all... like the last storm.

Don't tell that to those that deal with lake effect snow

Mid twenty's are the normal lows for that area in January.

Meh, so we're gonna get a little snow...
I ain't skeered!

The fridge is stocked, got plenty of gas for the generator, the snow blower is tuned up... and even parked the tractor out front to get rid of the deep drifts.
