Pulled the trigger on a 2004r tranny. Which dipstick tube for 1970 GTO?
2004r tranny being built for me. Got a call from the builder wanted to know if I wanted him to order a dipstick tube to fit my 70 GTO.
So all you guys that made the tranny conversion to a 700 or 200 overdrive, what did you do about a dipstick ? Have him get one for me or is there another / better pontiac choice ? |

I have a Buick GN dipstick and tube in my 2nd gen Firebird and a Monte SS dipstick and tube in the 70 GTO.

Is the Monte dip tube a junkyard find ?
Perfect fit or needed some tweaking ? |

Bob, I bought a complete 200-4R including all the accessories and shifter out of a low mileage one that was T-boned. Its been a long time now but the tab either lined right up with a middle tranny bolt or I had to bend it slightly to fit the BOP top bolt. But it wasn't an issue.
But I already had it. In your case I would just look around for one from a BOP application as these transmissions came in all sorts of GM cars including full size Station Wagons and even the big rear drive Caddys up to around 1990. Most had 307 Olds engines. Should fit perfectly for you.
