i have a question that i wasnt able to find, when running a roots style supercharger the tech told me i needed to run braided coolant hoses/sleeves and a blower belt guard the fuel lines were all braided with the silver stainless and so were the trans lines, so my question is do the coolant lines need to be the silver stainless, im not fond of the silver srainless is there a black sleeves that are nhra legal?... ( i should of asked the tech at the time but it never entered my mind) thanks guys!!! and also to i hope this was the right forum for this question.

I'm not aware of any specific NHRA rules regarding coolant lines, but individual tracks can employ stricter rules. That is one you'll have to ask your track techs about.

Regarding the supercharger, any fuel and/or oil lines that pass in line with the belt need to be shielded - either a belt guard or line/hose guard.

I don't see anything on the coolant lines, but most fast blown cars don't have radiators.

(JK )

The restraint straps have to be fireproof coated, maybe he was talking of that?
The fuel/oil lines have to be protected from the belt.
(also have to have the burst panel)

What class are you running and/or ET/speed?
Also, alcohol or gasoline?

Ditto on the Rad hoses but there are a TON of other safety stuff you need when RACING with a blower, check the NHRA book.

Including the fire suit and stuff!

Can't say how many times I had guys come with blower cars and not have the correct suits.

I don't think its just a blower thing, it's more a fuel think w/the blower.

I run rubber coolant lines with my supercharged set-up, but the lines run to the engine inside the blower belt. No tech has ever said anything about it and I've never seen anything in the NHRA regs about it. More importantly, I believe it's safe, since if the belt breaks at speed, it will more likely fly outward, away from the lines. Of course, nothing is ever 100%.

As long as you have a shield around them.

Oops, re-read and thought it was fuel lines, but still a good idea.
