Default Rare Judge at Mecum Harrisburg

Not only does this Judge have the rare "Hood tachometer delete" option (or lack thereof) it also has the "Special order in-dash tachometer"

https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/PA0...Judge/4-Speed/

i find seeing a Judge without a hood tach refreshing. Seen too many hacked up hoods in my day.

car was no sale at 45k

Most of the Judges that I see don't have hood tachs.

I cannot seem to get connected to the web site you provided. Is there another site by chance?
Thanks.

Actually.... I mistakenly believed I had a "rare" in-dash tach on my Judge. The reverse is true; majority of Judges did NOT have a hood tach and the ones you see usually were added by previous owners. This was told to me by a very knowledgable source on our cars. It's actually rare to have a hood tach that truly came on the car. What's more, Ive read that the option was always installed at the selling dealer, anybody have info on that?

The original hood tach cars had the hood cut and tach installed at the factory. Most all of the original 69 "pattern" 4-speed Judges had hood tachs. (I forget if the auto pattern Judges did.)

"car was no sale at 45k"

Of course it's a no sale. Everyone wants 90k for their Judges now days. Both of my Judges have in dash tachs.

Very interesting.
My PHS shows "hood tach", $63.19. That's a car payment in. '69....

My friend Dave Tait was a GMI student at the Pontiac Assembly plant in the early 70's; he reminisced that the hood tach was a very unpopular option at the time resulting in quite a few leftover parts getting thrown away at the end of the model year.

But they were certainly installed at the factory when ordered (just not very often, according to Dave).

From what I can tell on my PHS listing pattern automatic cars never had a hood tach and manual shift pattern cars all had a hood tach.

Later non pattern cars still tended to follow this rule somewhat (on cars that were otherwise similar to pattern cars-zone cars maybe?). Dash tachs seem to be a uncommon but not rare option on Judges.
