Put some vaseline on them where it gets tight and whack them with a soft, deadblow hammer.

HAMMER?! I just got the car out of the body shop. I don't even want to use Vaseline, let alone a "soft" hammer! LOL

Hey, I didn't say to hit the car!

I've lubed up a number of those types of bumpers. It works that way. Trying to push them in dry is near impossible. If the hammer scares you, just push them as hard as you can.

I don't think I even have those. Where do they go?

As stated, you pull them thru. Hammer? No.

Liquid dish soap works well.

A little bit of silicone spray on them will help them go in but I would pull them through with the pliers so you don't hurt anything but never use a hammer. BIERMAN they go on the tops of the fender as they are hood bumpers. Also you may try to put them in by using a small screwdriver & push them in at the tab.

use dish soap, not silicone - unless you want to hear four letter words from your painter at touch up time.

Yeah, I was thinking of the frame rubbers I have pounded in where you can't get to the bottom side to pull them. For these you guys are correct. My advice was bad.

This is great, I was embarrassed I couldn't get mine in either. So I gave up and it still has the old ones. Never thought about using a pounder, or a pair of squeezers. Thank you.

Xs 2 as 400 4sd. and Scarebird say. A lot more slippery than Vaseline, and far better than using silicone. It won't hurt anything and washes off easily.

Well, the fronts went in easy enough with dish soap and by grabbing them from behind the fender with a needle nose pliers. But that only works for the two front ones I can't get in behind the rear ones closer to the firewall. Boy I wish I planned ahead a little bit and bought these before they installed the fenders.

Use the end of a wood handle hammer - just push hard.

Nice looking car. Not to hijack but, where did you get the engine paint?

Thanks. I've had good luck Dupli-Color lately. I tried that "super duper ceramic" stuff from Eastwood's on the heads and it sucked. But it is good for touching up since it's brush on. Colors aren't perfect matches though between the brands.

Can't do that for the rears cause the hood hinges are in the way. For now, it's not noticeable that they're not installed. I may trim them down so they snap in more easily for the backs.

There are 3 Harbor Freight stores on Long Island. Go to one and spend 7 bucks for #67021. This will push it in without hurting the paint.
