Default 72 Unused Rallye Spare, and Jack & Assembly Pics

Thought some detail might be of interest. Jack or spare never touched ground.

.

I don't know if rubber is aged or came that way.
.

.

.

Will all the black bumper resto jacks go paint their bumpers now?
.

.

My favorite part, the spare:

A little sloppy mask on one spoke, be a little sloppy on the resto's please
.

Heart "8"..... a lady?
.

After I scrub it, I will photo my trunk mat................... gotta look good.....

Even though they are sitting on cardboard...some people might consider that touching the ground.. Pretty amazing stuff BTW

Jan. '72 made tire and a Mar. '72 built rim. Any date codes found on the jack mast?

Leave the chalky residue on the jack sleeve. That's how they came, it's not from age.

I found 2CC on other side of blue jack mechanism? I am the worst at codes and it is sad.

also, in the "Dumb" Department, I have a GM jack sleeve if anyone needs one. I thought mine was missing and bought one from Brewster I think (?). Not chalky though.

That white residue is the same stuff that you'll find on new inner tubes.

That residue is the mold release agent from when it was manufactured, seeping out of the rubber due to age. If you use a hair dryer or heat gun it will "melt" and be absorbed back in to the rubber. It is a pain in the a$$ to try to use any kind of chemical to remove it as the stuff just smears around. Heat works best.

Is the mold release agent actually in the rubber or just on the surface?

I put it back in today and was using the trunk lid sticker which has great assembly instructions. I noticed it showed one washer. The factory worker must have put three on for grins I guess. Yes under wing nut.

We added washers at the dealer for those that were loose or noisey as well..
