Default Affixing front side windows to sash channel?

Hello All

I’m preparing to re-install the front side windows to the channels that affix to the bottom of the windows. I have the new replacement weather strip that is molded to fit in this channel, then, the window goes in to the gap in this weather strip.

Should I use adhesive as (shown in the pic) between the metal channel and weather strip?
Should I use adhesive where the window meets the weather strip?
Is the glass only held in by pressure?

That rubber doesn't look like anything I've ever used to put the sash channel on with. I'm accustomed to using a flat masticated rubber tape about 1 1/2" wide folded over the glass end to end then the sash channel is driven on the bottom of the glass and tape. The channel is actually held on the glass by the interference fit between the glass/tape/channel in that order.

From your picture that looks like a thick rubber seal. Too thick??

Sounds complicated, but it's really not

Maybe I bought the wrong piece. “Masticated rubber”? Is this similar to butyl tape?

I bought what’s called “Molded Door Glass Setting Channel”; Ames part # F185S on page 118 in the G31 catalog.

You should be able to get that locally at a glass shop. It's called packing or everseal . There is also a neat little tool called a channel driver that pounds those on without bending the bottom of the bracket.
