Just buy the precut 50/50 stuff then you do not have to track down the needed 1.5 gallons of demineralized water to cut the full strength coolant with!
A total of 4 gallons should do ya if you have a 3 row and not a 4 row rad.

A standard cooling system on most calls for 16.8 qts, with the HD package close to 19 quarts .

It's a Rodney Red Aluminum radiator but I'll buy 4 just in case.
Thank you.

Premixed 50/50 antifreeze is damn near as expensive as the full-strength stuff. A gallon of distilled water is well under a dollar at any grocery store.

Gotta be nuts to buy premix.

Cooling system capacity is listed in the owner's manual. Add/subtract for modifications to the cooling system. Be sure you're starting from "0" by pulling both block drain plugs along with the radiator draincock. Lots of folks get caught with too-weak antifreeze strength because they don't drain the flush-water from the block.

Smile Here's how I've done it.....for several decades.....

Buy two gallons of full-strength green, old-style ethylene-glycol antifreeze. Don't use the 'extended life' stuff that is compatible with DexCool. It's hard on gaskets and seals.

Buy two gallons of distilled water - as mentioned, it's only around 99 cents a gallon.

Pour one complete gallon of full-strength antifreeze into the radiator. Follow with one gallon of distilled water.

Then pour 1/2 gallon of the remaining bottle of antifreeze into the empty antifreeze bottle.

Top if off with 1/2 gallon of distilled water and shake to mix. Pour this 50/50 mix into the radiator.

I do the first fill (one gallon each of full-strength antifreeze and distilled water) with the thermostat and thermostat housing off so I can watch the level in the intake manifold crossover and avoid any large air pockets. When the antifreeze in the crossover is about 1/4" below the thermostat gasket surface, I install the thermostat/gasket/housing/radiator hose and seal the system up. Sometimes you need part of the second fill - the 50/50 mix - to get the level up to the thermostat.

Now pour the remaining 1/2 gallon of distilled water into the bottle with the remaining 1/2 gallon of full-strength antifreeze. Shake to mix and then use this bottle to top off the radiator and/or overflow tank.

Good luck!
