Default Doing a color change Lets see your Black painted cars

Wife and I aren't a fans of white and since it's not going to be a restoration we want to go black with red interior. So we'd like to see some of your cars

Not to be cheeky, but are you doing this on a '64 Catalina?

What body style?

I've always thought that any car looks better in black. I've owned several. So it's not a one and done color. But with red interior I also like silver...like the 69-70 Pontiac Palladium Silver.

A color change is like the trans change you wanted to do. alotta things come to mind. In your posts your car has spots of cancer , along with the side moulding holes being filled in. The cost might for a perfect body painted in black will suprise you. Enjoy the car for awhile.since you just got it.

8lug,

Oh we are going to drive it and enjoy it. We are just planning Winter projects. I know everyone sees me post about a lot of different things but it's all being documented and a plan for it. The car runs great and shifts good. So far I've replaced the one line master cylinder and now the booster. As the brakes were very hard and went to the floor. Next comes the front end chassis work.
Wanting to go to the Poci event in kennasaw, ga on May 5 and 6.

This is going to be a longtime project. As I have a bad back and money is tough to come by. But it's a dream of ours to have a classic car to go to shows and meet new people.

I appreciate all the help everyone gives me. I guess I dream bigger than my funds allow sometimes. But only time will tell.

Default thoughts

Ok after a lot of thought The black idea is out the window. Staying the orginal color of White. But the interior will be Red. Already have the person lined up and a price. Yes it's going to entail more money to do the color change but it's going to look great. not a big fan of saddle. Thanks to all the input here and pictures.

The cat is in the tear down phase. doing a build thread on it slowly but surely things will come together in time. One thing I've learned over the years is don't rush it.

Thanks everyone

Mama didn't raise no fool.....wise choice....Unless you want to be married to the California duster...detailing spray and wiping it down at every waiting moment.

white on red should look fantastic. oddly, my last 8 cars have been black without EVER actually seeking a black car on any one of them. that said, i do love black cars, but they are a pain in the 'detail' department and black will show every little flaw imaginable. white is extremely forgiving in those areas and will look great with the red. good luck with the interior swap.

My 63 was originally white w\ the tri-tone red interior and I seriously contemplated going to black with the red interior. Ended up going with silver which looks good but if I had to do it over again it would probably go back to the original white. Now I've got to do the interior and I have new tri-tone seat covers in red but I'm thinking about going with blue. Somewhere along the line I've just lost interest in red. Just do whatever you think will still float your boat 10 years down the road.
