T10 Borg Warner 4 speed ID help.
I picked this T10 up today and I think its from a 62 Vette. Its marked K91-2, T-10 1 B, H10-1, 02. Any Borg Warner gurus out there.

I'm no expert, but I have one just like it here that's about 6 months older...
Looking to sell mine if you want a matched set.

Here's a chart I found on the web a while back:
I have a B-W T-10 in my 1956 Packard Panther. It is out of a 1963 Ford Galaxy 427. It is a close-ratio (2.36:1 1st gear). |

I just read all the vetts had aluminum cases. My guess is big car close ratio.

Aluminum or cast iron? I've also heard the Corvette T10s were aluminum case, so if it's cast iron it would be something else. Any sign of a VIN stamped on it anywhere?

No vin. I've read conflicting stories about aluminum vs cast iron so the jury's still out on that. The only references to the K is a Chevy service bullitin that has the K as a Corvette trans. I believe these were used in big cars too do to the 2 mounting pads an the tail shaft.

I had a T-10 that was for sure from a 62 or 63 Corvette, I think it even had a Corvette VIN on it. It had an aluminum case and a bowtie on the tailshaft housing.

The K91-2 in this case is the assembly date (Oct. 9th 1961, I believe the letter "I" wasn't used). Still up in the air about the 2 meaning 2nd shift. It could be the maker's division or ratio.
And, the 7B tail is not a Corvette tailshaft housing (that should be 7D). Last edited by Held for Ransom; 08-01-2017 at 08:11 PM. |

Thanks gentleman, if anybody is interested it's for sale. Any idea of the value?

No good idea on value, but it will depend on the working condition - those early T10s weren't the most durable things (When I got my '61 Bonneville I had to get the T10 trans rebuilt; 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears all had to be replaced). It may be worth popping open the side cover and inspecting the gears and synchros as best you can.
