Default Factory Limited Slip Rear End

Selling a rear end as follows:

When I ran the codes on the external carrier (30 years ago), it was manufactured in 1966 (for a 1966 model year). It came with the 67 GTO I purchased in 1987 or 1988, however likely someone replaced the original with this one from 66.

While I owned it, it was completely disassembled a few times and rebuilt. I am selling in as is condition for less than what I put into it simply because I know how difficult it is to find factory units anymore, so passing this one along to someone who could use either entire unit or internals as needed for a factory type set up.

Here are the particulars of what I do know:

* It has a factory cone type limited slip differential. It was re-machined to function like new tolerances some 20 years ago and still works as designed. The carrier itself is a 3 series (used for 3.08 to 3.90 ratios or higher if spacer is used)
* The ring and pinion are a Richmond 4.11 ratio.
* The axles and bearings were replaced maybe 10 years ago (Yukon 28 spline). One remains in perfect condition and the other is beginning to show signs of twisting on the splines.
* Drums are not included
* Bonus chrome differential cover is included

I have this unit at Moser in Portland, IN for repairing a leak. If you contact me before the repair is completed, I'd be willing to part just the limited slip with the ring and pinion parts separately. After repair will sell entire unit only. Moser assured me the axles would work fine for a factory type set up (non-race) without replacing the one starting to twist and you should see a long life out of it. If in doubt, you can replace that one.

I'm located in the Chicago area so you can either pick up from me locally, or if you contact me before Moser ships back to me, I could ask them to ship to you directly (I will not ship once back in my hands).

PM me - price dependent on variables above, transaction, location etc. - just asking market price

Thanks.

Sorry, forgot to add price - asking $725 after above noted repair is done.

I will try to get shop to send me a picture of the code - that was the original intent of the photo above, though don't think they knew what they were looking for.

Date Code is F146 (June 14, 1966). Casting number is 9783393 which does not tell a whole lot, but based on the date, it could also have been used in an early 1967 model as well, therefore I might be mistaken about whether or not this was the original rear in my '67 car. The shop could not locate any other codes - likely moot since all the internals have been replaced anyway.

Also an update - shop repaired much quicker than I anticipated, so it will be shipped back to the Chicago area shortly. If anyone looking to purchase before they ship, please let me know before they do since I will not have an easy way to ship once back in my hands. Shop re-welded the axle tubes and made sure in true position. Therefore a pretty solid setup for a street car.

Hi, It's not the date I need, so I'll pass. That sounds like a great deal, though. Good luck with the sale.
