Question GM VATS Security Module bypass?

Well my '94 Buick Roadmaster wagon has had it's "Security" light on steadyfor about 6 years now w/o an issue. But yesterday morning it decided to disable the starter, and then the light was flashing as it should if an incorrect key was used.

Now that evening after work I used my spare key and the car started right up and the security light went out for the first time in 6 years. Then I shut it down waited a minute and used my original key and it started right up and the light went out. Repeated that two more times, but those two last times the light went out but then came back on steady after a few seconds.

So I think the security module itself is going kaput. After researching the web I have found no good info on how to bypass the module. Only the resistor trick for the key which is not my problem.

I know I can make the starter work by bypassing the module, but not sure about the PCM fuel injector signal.

Any ideas would be helpful and very much appreciated!

Default Wiring Diagrams attached...

With the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) disconnected I think I should be able to jumper A4, A3, & B5 together at the wiring connector and make the Starter and Fuel Injectors work. Am I over simplifying it?

I know the starter will work, but wondering about the fuel injectors.

Here are the diagrams attached as a jpeg......

The red lines are what I think I can jumper to make work.

I think it would seem to be too easy to bypass it like that?
Appears like it would work just looking at those diagrams?
But would think there is more to it?

Here is one link on relearning:

VTD relearn

It would seem there would be a certain code sent to the PCM if the proper key is there?
(sent from the TDM?)

I don't really know anything about these things though.

Those points are exactly what I'm thinking. But when I get a chance I'm gonna try it, if it don't work I found this link earlier today http://www.bakerelectronix.com/products_vats/ that PYer Mike Nixon posted back in '09.

Looks mighty small and has three wires, hummm. It is only for the fuel injector function. But only $35

But then that little box may contain this from an LS1TECH Forum....

Thumbs up Mission Success!!!!

After much ado to find the hidden TDM/TDR and access the bugger, I got the starter going but the engine would only run a couple seconds and die as per my drawing schematics in a previous post in this thread.

Now after ordering, impatiently awaiting the arrival, and then installing the Baker Bypass the ol' Towmaster is up and running again

In short, I removed the TDM and it's green connector from the PC board, cut off all the posts except for A2, A3, & B5 to which I soldered the Baker Red wire to A2 (Hot in Run), Blue to A3 (Fuel Enable Signal), and Black to B5 (Ground).

The reason I did this was the harness was too short to pull out from under the dash to do splicing and this way I could wire up the Baker unit outside the car and then just "plug and play".

I also removed the TDR as it was right there just as unaccessable as the TDM and installed a 12ga jumper in the TDR connector C1 & A2 (heavy Yellow wire positions).

Originally I had the A1 of the TDM jumpered to B5 but then I was still using the relay to control the starter solenoid. Since this relay is just another near inaccessible part to fail, I just eliminated it with the jumper.

So if any of you out there have a Passkey II system and need to bypass it one day hopefully you will come across this thread and it will be of help. But be prepared for an extremely PITA undertaking as anything under the dash is!!!

BTW: the TDM/TDR is hidden and mounted on a black metal plate directly above the "Convenience Center" (relay block left of where steering column goes thru firewall) and held in by one screw. If you have a big green box mounted on this "Convenience center" then you will need to remove the two mount screws for the center to drop down and out of the way for the TDR plate removal as I did.
