Default Turbo conversion Dyno

With all this turbo talk I thought I share my dyno results.. I cant post any pics but if someone can do it I can text or email it. Here is my setup, it's been 5 years to finally getting this thing together. 482" IA2, Butler WP heads, fully ported Victor, 55 mm roller small cam, HP Innovation carb on E85, Crower crank, Callies Ultra rod, JE dished pistons .145 down the hole with sealing ring from Marty P, PT91.5 Gtrim turbo, down and forward 1 7/8" headers. So far we issues with over boosting. We finally got the handle on the AFR but not boost.
So far We made 1213 hp and 1153 ft lbs @ 5500 rpm as the boost climbs to 22 or 23. It pegs our 20 psi gauge. Were planning to try to tune this on 10, 15, 20 plus boost. It makes between 50-70 hp every 100 rpm after 4600 rpm. We have to remove the spring to somewhat create a big leak so we don't over boost. This is why were down on power below 3800 rpm or so.
It made 570 hp without turbo on day 1 with 3 pulls as we weren't really concern on NA anyway. The turbo is capable of 1550 hp max according to PT website. I am blown away of my setup. I'm running reversed cooled mechanical water pump, dry deck block and an external oil pressure regulator.

If you let the boost build and could run to 6000 rpm you could have a very nice 1600+ hp low rpm engine package. Looks like the 5 years of effort will be well worth it for you. Many years ago the Butlers made 2885 on a dyno in Huntsville Alabama with 2 of the PT-91 turbos.
The sealing rings should do a nice job for you too. Congratulations.

Awesome! You're gonna love it! What are your cam specs and compression? What are you using for a wastegate?

Compression is 8.75 to 1 , it is not ideal as I have a 60cc head with a .145 piston down the hole, piston have 35cc dish. Cam is 254 /256 at .450 lobe lift 116 LS 4 degree advanced. Just to let everyone know, that the dyno is not a happy dyno. A lot of feelings get hurt on my buddy's dyno. If it makes the power it will run the number. But in my case I'll be slower as my car is built to be driven and not a track car.
The sealing rings did good. The first pull with the turbo, boost must have been at 25 psi and we were very lean as I didn't expect it to boost that high. Thank God I have an IA2 block and no head gasket and water flowing in the block to the head. We are not done as I am putting another wastegate tomorrow. This weekend is day 4 on my buddy's dyno.
Happy Boosting to everyone!

Ed,
I met you with your turbo TR6 maybe 4 years ago or so. I like your build but there is no room in your car. I have no idea how you fit all that inside the hood. Mine is decent size but I don't have any room either. I'm also putting a front mount IC in my junk.
I built this car to be a cruiser. If it wasn't for the Wideport, it will be a solid flat tappet. But its kind of a waste with an IA2 block.

Was it at the fairgrounds that we met?
Is Ron your brother? I know there are only a few sets of sealing rings out there.

Cool, the guy that did the machine work on my IA 2 was Ron Flood, kind of crazy you have sealing rings and pistons 0.145".so do I.

The rings that Tom Earheart and Marty Palbykin came up with were very good sealing rings.
Only ONE ring leak that I am aware of and that was at twice the boost thyat you guys are running. He was kind of like Charlie, well over 30 psi. Think the ring leaked around 45 psi and with the aluminum heads. Cast iron heads no issues I am aware of.

My garage is always a mess and my car is a storage bin and shelves for a while. It will be a 99 percent street car.

We're hoping to make 1150 on 15 lbs but on 6500 rpm. My valve spring are the limiting rpm on this motor. But I would like to make a 20 psi pull till 6500. I believe it will hit 1500. We are not running an intercooler on the dyno so it has more boost but hotter air.
The numbers are low on the beginning of the pull as the turbo has to overcome a wide open 60mm wastegate. But at 4600, it starts to recover from the big leak and it is all boost after that.

Based on the posted dyno sheet it is hard to say what peak HP would have been on that pull since it never even made it to peak torque. WAG it would have hit 1500.
