SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL STARTER
Since OHC 6 Starters are no longer avail it important to keep yours safe.
Many starters over the years have lost the factory support which is vital to keeping stress off the nose/cone that is prone to cracking otherwise. The support is a simple stamped steel bracket that bolts to the starter and then to the engine block hole provided for this support. So be sure to support yours!

Hmm, I wonder if I have one in my stash of parts? Probably not, but could also probably make one. Using a Buick 455 motor in the OHC starting housing only adds to the force.

Since I've been away from the OHC 's since the mid 80's, What is the diff between the OHC starter and other GM that mount on the pass side?

Chebby 6 Vs OHC 6
Quote:
A Chebby nose/cone can be trimmed, but nothing beats OE.
