Give me a 33 day over a +1 any day off the week. This metric stuff is crap. Even the UK doesn't use it all...... as in miles instead of kilometers.

There are two types of countries in the world.

1. Those that use the metric system

2. Those that have put a man on the moon.

I bet NASA uses metric now. I know that your military does. Plus all of science. And medicine. Bottom line: it’s good to know both.

The Cosmic "Backround temperature" in dead space is minus 455 degrees Fahrenheit.

Close enough. The Solar surface temp is 6600*F, radiates in all directions. We get 0.5* conical of the Solar spehrical volume. If the Sun cools by 1* then we cool by 1*.

E=MC^2, so for all that E output, the Sun ought be getting smaller fast huh.

By the way, It was the 32 engineers from Canada that made a major contribution in getting the space program running and getting a man to the moon. They became available when the Avro Arrow, the most advanced aircraft at the time, was cancelled. NASA swooped in and grabbed them before they could go anywhere else.
They made a movie about the contribution by some black lady, but these guys designed the Gemini Spacecraft and the lunar module, for example.

THAT was funny!!!!!!!!!!!! ("Eh?") Being a weather freak and living in Montana, that was great. Too real. I think I'll chisel open the back gate............. y'all in Bama or Cajun country have no clue. My version of winter despair is coming here and reading posts from the south. Half the year I hate you guys.

Maybe so. We also had a key german involved in the nuclear program that resulted in us getting the bomb first. We may have had others helping us, but we still did it first.

Not that any of that is at all relevant to anything, I'm just.. sayin'.

Interesting,

I was trying to improve the day for those having to suffer through a long winter.

I provided a link to some typical self deprecating Canadian humour, but that wasn’t good enough, some thought we miserable winter worn Canadians needed to be kicked while we’re down too?

We had a stupid leader stick us with a half thought out, half done switch to the metric system and now we are caught in the middle with some things one way and others the new way.

Bet that has never happened to the USA and never will? Cough, cough...Heath care...cough? Sorry was that below the belt?

Ha ha. careful, might wind up in the clubhouse.

Anyway, most of my construction projects are in feet and inches, just the way I like it.

OK, Canadians get a bad rap here on them coming to Montana and driving poorly. While half Montanans drive poorly. Do Canadians gripe about lousy American drivers coming north? I do give Canadians extra points for when getting merry in bars, singing all together. Eh?

Working with lumber I wish i had an English tape measure marked in tenths of an inch.

nas t eh: At least you weren't like the British having to deal with English, Whitworth, AND Metric?

I love Flathead lake, been there a few times. I’m probably guilty of giving Canadians a bad name for driving too.( twice mistakenly pulled a boat then years later a car on trailers through the “ Going to the Sun” highway) Only reason Americans don’t get a bad name for driving up here is very few come here on account of the crappy weather.

Since Trump, You have started sending us some refugees lately, So that Wall is starting to sound like a good idea.
