Default Trunk solenoid options

Will the trunk solenoid from the 70s vehicles work on the 64 trunks?

I would really like to be able to "pop" the trunk from in the car.

It should as long as you replace the bar coming off the lock with a long one.

In 64, I installed a solenoid from a 59 Caddy to open the trunk of my new Tempest. I remember that the bar from the lock cylinder to the latch mechnism will not turn except by the key. My solution was to cut the bar into and reconnect it with a tiny butt hinge to allow the bar to turn the latch without the key. That way, either the key or the solenoid will open the latch.
