Default You Know Your Days of Wanting to Sale Find/Parts are Ending When............

You go to an estate auction and pass on a pair of 67 GTO, Lemans, Tempest post doors with glass, really nice 67 RH fender and a 67 deck lid with mint molding, all $5 each. That was part of my Saturday.

The Sickness:
Buying parts for cars you may own in the future.
Buying enough spare parts for your vintage car so you could assemble a second car.
Logicing owning parts like extra seat brackets for "just in case".
Saving common parts that are broke, in case you need sub-parts (just in case)
Owning 3 back windows and one car (my last remnant of saving parts, because in attic and lazy)
Keeping parts you don't know what are.

Lots of more symptoms..... get help...….

I have a few plastic containers full of small widget sheet still (just in case) but I have purged all extra structure parts. With the net and PY help, if I need, I can find. Kinda fearsome not having extra seat brackets though.

Personally, I'm growing tired of all of the tire kicker, and low ballers. I find selling cars and parts anymore is very irritating.

Default selling

why buy and hold parts when, people want to buy the good parts for pennies,I too am sick of the people trying to get great parts for shorter than short cash,So I will wait on selling the quality for only serious buyers who know quality.

Serious buyers are out there and they all are not rich. The average Joe will still pay fair to good money for the right parts. But you will not find the "good" buyers on Craigslist or in New York. Most Craigslist and New York buyers are as cheap as it gets and big time time wasters until it is time for them to sell. Then, they want 30% to 50% more than what they have is worth.

The part that gets me about New York buyers is that they will not pay $200.00 for a $300.00 part in their backyard, but they will drive 300 miles to Carlisle to pay $375.00 for the same $300.00 part. DUH!

I generally try to sell parts just to move them rather than scrap them, or store them forever.
If I part out a car or engine it's not to make money, it's to get what I need off it and move the rest on to someone that may need something.

Right now I've got a bunch of extra 68 Firebird and various engine parts, but until I get done with Firebird number three's restoration I'm hanging on to it. Once done, except for a few select pieces, I want it all gone.

I got help, that's why I have been selling all my extra 65 GTO parts. I will never use them. Just taking up valuable space.

Some of us have other things to do besides drink beer, go clamming and let our hair grow.

Worry not my friend. I have a set right here in Oz for you.

Talk about crazy buyers. I'M THAT GUY. I saw a set of absolutely rotten (front) seats out of a GTO for sale on ebay some years ago. The part which attracted me was the passenger seat had the recliner mechanism. I offered to buy the whole lot and he just send me the passenger seat. He could keep the drivers side and resell it. Considering it was a power seat, he should have easily made more money.

Nup, he refused. said all or nothing. I took the lot. Had to import the whole mess just so I could get that recliner option. Pulled off everything of value and dumped the rest.

So if you need some seat brackets, I'm your man

Seems like the old car market is strange these days. I told my wife when she wanted the ‘61 Star Chief it would be next to impossible to sell. Well, now we are at the point where she wants to sell it and here we are. The prices seem to go up on everything but the interest in this stuff is not there it seems. I regularly see the same projects online for months or even years. I’m sure the Chief will be no exception.

My wife wants a 61 when I am done with my Tempest. Either that or a little Lemans 61-63
