Looking at upgrading ,and like to know which alternator ,cs130,cs130d or cs144 .Which one would be better to replace the 10si with less mods?

I run a CS130d in my 67 Firebird, but the alternator tension bracket style allows for the slightly (1/2"?) smaller pivot radius of the CS130d. Your stock 76 bracket configuration would not allow a CS130d to fit. You would need to convert the plug (kits are available) and add a higher capacity charge wire from your alternator POS stud to the battery, or from the POS stud to the starter + post.

You want a CS130. Without looking at your Astro alternator, I am guessing it is the 3 bolt pattern. I have a short bolt spacing cs130/cs130d (changeover years and applications get confusing), which has two holes spaced 6.14 inches apart. This one can work on earlier alternator brackets, like 69 and earlier where there is an upper bracket and lower bracket. I pulled mine off a 1991 Olds. I thought it was the right spacing when I went to the junkyard, but found out when I got it home that the spacing was different. I made it work, and it does just fine.
The earlier CS130's used the 10si/12si 6.6" bolt spacing, which is a direct fit to your bracketry. I've used an alt for a 1987 5.0l Z28 application. It will probably have a serpentine pulley on it, but that can be changed out for your v-belt pulley.

CS130: 1987-1989 Cadillac Brougham with the 5.0 will fit. It's the same one Squidward is talking about. Go to a parts store and tell them that's what your car is and it will come in ready to bolt on and once you get the harness changeover adapter you're set.
