Question 64 Upper Radiator Support Bracket

I have a few questions on this.

Are they all the same for 15" and 17" radiators?

Did the rubber insert change depending on core size?

Bonus question.

Since the 64 radiator has the top inlet house on the passenger side was there a special thermostat housing or was it just turned around?

p/n 9775034? This was a '64 T8 only part

Seems like they are as rare as hens teeth to find.

Did not mention a upper support for the 2 5/8 Radiator but surely it is different than the one for 2 inch Radiator. If the insulator changed the bracket must also change.

If I understand the bonus question correctly - if you rotate the outlet 180 degrees on the two bolts the outlet would then point somewhat toward the rear of the car as most of those did not aim exactly left or right but had a slight point to the front.

I would think not. I believe the insulators are all the same length to fit the upper bracket just formed fitted to either radiator. At least that is what I have seen on my other pontiac cars.

For 1964

As pfilean pointed out in Post 3, the Master Parts Catalog lists several metal upper brackets and several rubber insulators for the 1964 A-Body. Different core supports are listed for the different applications, with major differences noted. However, the upper-most channel on these differing core supports is similar. This creates an issue with the differing radiators used. The 3 and 4 (3/4) core radiators are 1.5 in. wider than the 2 core (23.5" wide). While the widths of these radiators is not the problem, the placement of the filler neck creates the issue. The filler neck on the 2 core radiator is located 1.5" to the right of the filler neck found on the 3 core radiator as it relates to its overall position within the car. Rather than changing the upper channel of the core supports, they addressed this issue via the upper bracket. The rubber insulators are provided with rubber stems (?) that are pulled up through holes in the upper metal bracket to secure the insulator to the bracket. The 2 core bracket has fewer holes, and these holes are relocated in comparison to the 3/4 core brackets. The 2 core bracket is 5.5" long compared to the 3/4 core bracket at 6.25" long. Finally, the 2 core bracket is offset to the right of center, whereas the 3/4 core bracket is offset to the left of center.

The first photo shows the 2 core bracket offset to the right. This shorter bracket would receive the smaller insulator used with the 1.25" thick radiator.
The second photo shows the 3/4 core bracket offset to the left.
The third and fourth photos show the rubber insulator for the 3 core radiator. I applied a white background in hopes of highlighting the part number (9775033) which was embossed on the large rubber mass. This mass would be missing when the 4 core insulator was molded.

What size are the weld nuts in radiator support for the upper radiator retainer bracket? These nuts are missing on Dad's car, replaced with nuts. Would like to try and replace nuts with something close (welded on). Any ref. pix, thread size, original screws?

Thx

For 1964

The nuts are square, measuring 7/16" per side, with a 5/16" diameter threaded hole.
