Value of 1970 GTO 400 4-speed
I have a chance to purchase a 1970 GTO. - it’s in very good shape, but I really need a reality check on a fair price. Black on black with vinyl roof, original 400 engine but the the Muncie and 10 bolt rear are not original. Very good shape - from an appearance standpoint and mechanicals. It’s a 2-owner car, all stock except for Pypes RacePro mufflers.
Any input would be appreciated. |

Weekend activity here can sometimes be minimal, hang on...
I am curious also. I know of a similar car, waiting on them to let it go...

Surf through the classifieds. I found that GTO's in good condition, needing next to nothing are around 30-40k; with full and show restorations a bit higher.

For whatever reason the 70 model does not have as many fans as ealier GTOs. I would say that 25K would be a relatively low Price for a good car while 35K would be on the higher side. Since you car does not have a Special engine like an HO455 or RA i would not see it at a higher Level. The Color Combo is a great plus though.

I don’t have any pictures - but I saw it/drove it. Everything inside and out is in very good (not perfect) shape. Only real issues are the spider cracks in the paint on the endura front bumper and it needs a carburetor rebuild and maybe a steering box rebuild....

You can also search ebay for 1970 GTO and check 'sold items' or 'completed items' (or both) - this may help give you some approximate values.

The Endura bumper will run into some money to fix correctly. But sounds like a solid car. I really like the styling of the 70-72 GTO's. I think the prices above are in the ballpark without pictures. BTW, the Endura bumpers were made in an Inland plant about 2 miles from my house in Vandalia, OH.
