BOP Belt Drive
Wanted to update and clarify a few things regarding the BOP Belt Drive. It has been 20 years since we first introduced the belt drive to the Pontiac community. In those 20 years the basic design of the drive has remained intact while some of the parts have been upgraded to keep up with the amazing strides Pontiac performance has made. Some time back several customers had an issue with cracked cam hubs. On hearing this we immediately started investigating these issues. After extensive research and speaking with the dyno operator of one of these engines we believe that a valve train failure resulted in the hub cracking and not the other way around. Other factors that may have contributed and should be checked on all belt drives are cam keys or key ways that result in a key height that is too tall and insufficient torque on the cam hub bolt. It had been said on this board that we had said we were not interested in making any changes until our stock had run out which is simply not true. We have always strived to provide the highest quality parts and service. With that said about a year ago we released the Gen IV belt drives which include 60 mm needle roller thrust bearings in both directions and a new matching cam hub made form 7075 aluminum, increased material around the keyway, and a new bolt/washer assembly. All while still having half a production run of Gen IIIs on the shelf. We did this because we want to provide the best product money can buy, even if we lose some money. Ran your old belt drive setup on street for two yrs wade drove it everywhere and raced it every week on the spray with no issues over two years flawless , when I get closer to new shortblock setup for new build will call for upgrades . Thanks for a great product BOP #1 in parts n service. Thanks wade .

Anybody else on this planet campaign a M/T hemi Pontiac for eleven seasons? ... or has built a record breaking DOHC hemi four cylinder Pontiac? ... or has driven a couple laps of Nuerburgring with Tri-Power Pontiac power?(back in 1967) |
