Default First Gen "Super 400" fiberglass Hood

I am posting this as an FYI... When searching for a raised hood for my 68 bird, I originally found this hood here on the Spotts Performance website... http://www.spottsperformance.com/body.htm

It was exactly what I was looking for with a 1.5" raised center for better air cleaner clearance without going to a fully raised cowl. However, Spotts was no longer selling the hood, timing was not right and I ended up with a hood from VFN.

I received a note below from the current Mfg of the hood, so thought I would pass this along. It would be cool to see a few more of these hoods out there!!

Feel free to contact the number below if interested.

With spring around the corner we are ready to begin production of the 1967-69 Pontiac Firebird Super 400 hoods! Prices are as follows:
Pin on with cowl $625
Pin on with an inner structure and cowl $795
Bolt on with cowl $895
Please respond to this email if you are still interested in purchasing a hood. When responding please include the following:
What type of hood you are looking to purchase
Where you are located - we prefer the hoods be picked up at our shop versus us shipping them
(picking up at a race event is a possibility but payment must be in cash)

A 50% deposit is required upon ordering.

Please note that any hoods paid for by credit card will be charged a 3% service fee.

Attached are 2 pictures of what the hood looks like.
Should you have any questions, please text/call Tim at 610-935-1993.

That hood looks fantastic, I would buy one in a heartbeat! Anyone know if that Time guy at the phone number listed is making them before I give him a ring?

The GloryDay version isn't quite the same, don't think I like that one.

I don’t know why they don’t make this hood for a GTO.

Leeklm: Do you know if these are still available? Also, is the glory days one a different hood?

Thanks

Sorry, I have no idea. When I spoke to the company 18 months ago, it sounded like they would typically make a production run once per year depending on demand.

The guys name you speak to is Chris Ross (he's the employee who physically makes them), Jodi will answer the phone.

Is this not the same guy as in the first post by Leeklm?

Huh, ok, it may be. I wasn't sure what company VFN was he mentioned and the name/number was different from my contact.

For clarification, my hood is from VFN, which is an entirely different company from Tim H.

Yes I realize that. Thanks for the pic. How's the fit and finish? Did you have to change upper cowl piece?

Thanks

Overall it is good. No changes to cowl. Minor complaint is that the left side middle sits a little high on the fender (level at front and rear) while the right side is perfect all the way along the top edge. This is the style with springs and hood latch. I was not overly confident with the area hood latch grabs onto, so removed my hood latch and use pins on front.

I did let vfn know about the issue with one side sitting high just in case it was an issue with their molds.

I then purchased a generic air pan kit from summit that works pretty well. I am running running the T2 manifold with 2" spacer. I was able to rivet a piece of aluminum to the cross bar of hood so there is a complete transition of air to the air box
