Its not rustic, that's called patina. LOL. We did a Chevrolet SSR, remember those, for the Power Tour in the late 2000's and the engineer had the techs "patina" a brand new metallic blue SSR. They tried to make it look old with ruddy brown primer sprayed here and there. The shop did a nice job, it just isn't my thing. All I could think was that poor brand new 6.0 V8, manual trans SSR was being ruined.

Reminds me of General Maintenance from Roadkill.

I've seen brand new, top-of-the-line Mercedes and Rolls Royces sporting the "saving up for a paint job" flat black look.
That mopar makes even less sense.

No. If I ever sprang for a new car, it would need to have nice paint. I think that looks like crap.

I made the cover of the Schittwagens Quarterly, Summer 2020 issue.
My Panelvan has a good excuse, it’s been sitting outside for 64 years.

Now that is cool b-man.
Painting faux patina is stupid. Patina is one of those way overused words when it comes to old cars.

Just made myself LOL. Would it be wrong to dump just a little used oil under it?
On a regular basis? You know, for authenticity. |

I would drive the hell out of it. I’m sure it is just a wrap and could easily be removed/replaced.

No but some damn fool will. With new car depreciation being what it is I bet that thing drops 30% the moment it leaves the lot. Would take a real special buyer

The car is just too new to pull it off IMO. It works on Bart's bus...not on the Mopar.
If I ever get around to getting my '66 on the road, I'm thinking of leaving it just like it is as far as paint. Plenty of patina.

Nah, not for me. Personally I dont get the whole rust o mod, relic'd, rat rod look. I think if some cars have naturally aged and look pretty consistent with same colour body panels all around, then a good mechanical freshen up and drive them like they are is ok. Hypocritically I do like the look of flat paint on a car, although I think that is a bit of a different subject matter and it just happens to be the type of paint, and not trying to tell someone, 'hey look at my rusted old p.o.s.' I saw a late 60's chevy truck at a show with faked 'patina', it was painted on rust at all of the right spots , all in all it looked pretty bad. My cousin bought a 63 chevy truck with the same deal, they even painted a faded logo on the door with a 1-800 phone no., i dont even think they had 800 numbers in 1963
