Thats pretty bad. I have an old 1943 Willys MB jeep. The jeep forums are filled with things like that. Mine has quite a bit of it. Horrid overlap patches, a welded on snow plow. My time with that old Jeep has made me believe that it should be illegal for farmers to own welders.

Why have trays, bins and boxes of nuts and bolts that never fit! Mig welder, one size fits all! That tail housing might be a tad difficult to remove.

Looks like that was more trouble than just getting the right parts. But you never know, could have been some poor penniless person just trying to get his vehicle on the road so he could work next day and provide for a wife and three kids.

Maybe he was afraid someone was going to steal his transmission.

In high school some of the guys used to brag how fast they can steal a 4 speed trans. This would slow them down a bit.

There was a pic floating around of a vehicle with a 2x4 for a rear lower control arm. Trying to find it now.

I always liked the one pic of the gas can in passenger set with hose running to carburetor.............the things people do.

I bought a 67 GP with the gas tank in the trunk and rubber hose ran down through a hole.
Another car had a pipe for a crossmember. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

I had a Datsun 280Z that had the center section of the differential lag bolted to a 4X4 across the rear of the chassis. The ends of the 4X4 were attached to what was left of the unibody with giant butterfly drywall anchors. It was actually a pretty solid set-up compared to what was left of the factory unibody. Drove it about a year that way while in college.

Had a customer bring a car in once that had the alternator nailed on. They'd run nails through the bracket into a 2x4.. then nailed the alternator down to the 2x4. I guess it worked well enough to get it to the shop.

Hack jobs
When I first set up my 2 post lift I noticed the chains were anchored with...nails... I wondered why the hell didn't they just go buy some bolts. I got some grade 8 1/4 20 and they wouldn't fit. I then remembered the lift was Japan built and bought some metric ones and all fixed.
