Default Rookie Racer

My first time on a landspeed track went well. The Tri-Power GMC did a great job of towing 1,720 miles to/from Loring Maine- including hours of 75 mph on I95, many twisting miles of NH & VT mountain roads, etc. I could brag that I set a record on my first pass, then bumped my own record the next day; but I'd then have to admit that it was previously an open record! Anyhow... passed tech, attended rookie orientation, ran one-mile licensing pass #1 (136 mph) and #2 (150mph & chute deployment demonstration). No damage to the Pontiac in the lakester that I'm aware of. I'm quite pleased.

Sounds like you have a knack for it, maybe even found your niche. Best wishes for much continued success in the future too. Just stay safe and don't get over confident in your driving success. It on takes a fraction of a second and you have a pile of modern art, abstract. Peace

Congrats on the entire trip and event, setting a record, and backing it up. That’s more than some can claim having done. I hope you continue to compete, and eventually make it to the big event in Bonneville one day.

Nicely done Jack. Congrats.
What RPM did you finish at? And what is the RPM limit on your combo? How much faster do you think you can go with tuning

Jack, it sounds like you had the perfect trip!

The engineering and craftsmanship that you put into everything you work on is a standard far greater than many of us could ever dream.

Impressive to say the least, Great to hear all went well!

This is a FANTASTIC accomplishment!!! Think about this if your a Pontiac lover. A pure Pontiac design 4-cylinder engine has just run back to back record runs, one at 150 MPH! This is without a doubt the most exotic Pontiac based engine ever developed and built by a private individual. Virtually every piece is a one off hand built part. Then all installed in a vintage lakester race car that still passes tech and runs the numbers in the middle of a pandemic. Just towing that rig with the Pontiac powered GMC down the highway is incredible enough. A week to remember . Congratulations to Jack and his dedication to Pontiac. A guy who doesn't know the meaning of "it can't be done".

Jack: you're an inspiration to all of us Pontiac motorheads.
When is your next event?

Way to go Jack!!!! great effort.......

At least not having to make the Norwalk pilgrimage in August this year didn't take time away from your racing effort. I have no idea if you were planning to come this year, but knowing you, I expect you would still want to have made the trip if it wasn't called off this year.

BTW, the rig looks impressive.
