Windage tray elimination
What year did Pontiac stop installing a windage tray? Exceptions?
I would gather that this would also coincide with eliminating the bolt holes from #2 and #4 main caps and only #3 cap having the bolt holes for the strap holding the lower tube in place.

I think it was 1973.
They started using the oil pan with a baffle instead of the windage tray.

Yup, the arrival of the baffled pan ended windage tray usage, although the caps can still be drilled and tapped.

The 455 block I used for my engine build was dated coded B205, code YW, and was casting # 485428.
It had threaded bolt pads on main cap # 2,3,4 so I installed a windage tray. Not sure if it originally came with one as the block was just a core when I bought it.

I have 2, `73 455`s here. Both YC codes. Both have a windage tray. I have a `74 455 also. Code YY. It doesn`t have a tray.
