Need Ford technician, help
My 2012 F150 had the strangest problem towing the race car home tonight. Need help I am at a loss.
Speedometer quit working, air bag light came on, engine would not go above 2000 rpms and blinkers would not self cancel. What the hell. Ever try and pull a trailer with out the engine going above 2000. Got home finally, shut off the truck and restarted it and everything is good. I didn't want to do it in the middle of no where when I was pulling the trailer. What in hell would make a truck at up like this? |

It sounds to me that it went into "limp mode". Have it scanned with a good diagnostic scanner, not auto parts store free scan.

Hello Mike, Another problem found in the Ford pickup trucks is water contamination in the "Body Control Module" or "GEM Module" as Ford calls it. The module is located behind the right side kick panel and gets water contaminated due to either a windshield leak or plugged cowl drain. I have also found water contamination of the interior fuse panel caused by the same problems. This is a very common problem that creates the same problems as you are having, and many more body electrical issues.

Talked with a Ford tech today. My truck has a recall for sudden down shifts into first. He told me they have to load a new program which is covered under warranty. He said if it did down shift to first it could have thrown it into limp mode. Makes sense to me since, I was decelerating when it happened. I thought it was a bump in the road but probably was that it dropped into first.
Also going to change out the 5 year old battery. Been on a charger for 2 hrs and won't fully charge. |

Another vote for the battery. Anytime you have a lot of crazy issues at once I would start there.

Another vote for "limp mode." Get on a Ford Truck forum and post your symptoms.

As much as I swear on the old Fords, electrical has always been their weak part.
